Nature is an inspiration for art in so many ways. In this class, we will learn the fundamentals of drawing with graphite. Using small objects from nature, such as leaves, twigs, shells, fruits, and vegetables, we will practice the observation skills needed to accurately portray natural subjects. We will use graphite to learn to create an accurate outline drawing using proportion and perspective. Then with a light source, we will practice tonal techniques with graphite to give these subjects three-dimensional form. Students will work toward creating compositions of found natural objects.
