“Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.”  Vincent van Gogh

My goal in this class is to provide the building blocks, “the small things” of drawing and painting for you to bring them “together”, to create paintings uniquely your own.

“Drawing and Painting” introduces drawing basics and the fundamental elements of composition that are foundational for successful paintings. The lessons work well for both oil and acrylic, and we’ll explore the characteristics of both. Classes will include learning how to compose, measure, and how to create realistic depth, volume, atmosphere, and perspective from design through to color theory and paint application.

Classes will be interactive and include PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, and group participation and discussions as we paint. This course is for all levels of experience and ability. The lessons will be personal and tailored to your individual needs and experience.

Drawing materials are all that is required for the first class; recommended is a pad of drawing paper (non newsprint), 16×20 or 18×24, and pencils or medium or your choice. A painting materials’ list will be provided in the first class.
