The Beginning Woodworking class does not require any prior woodworking experience. Students are introduced to the stationary tools in the shop. There is a brief discussion of the traits and characteristics of different species of wood. Students are then invited to choose one of three basic projects; a bookcase, a small table, or a small casework piece. Project plans and material quantities are provided, but students are required to purchase their own material, and to bring it to and from class each week. The class meets for two hours a week for ten weeks.
