Students will create a round meditation cushion, decorated with a mandala pattern. Although we will be jumping right into 3D feltmaking, this class is suitable for beginners as well as experienced felt makers. The seamless cushion cover will be felted around a resist. We will use a collage-like technique to create intricate colored inlays in the fabric.
Students need to bring the following supplies to the workshop:
- 7 ounces of felting wool**
- approx. 4 pounds of buckwheat hulls** or equivalent volume (approx. 2 gallons) of other stuffing material (e.g., polyfill, beans, rice, etc.)
- sewing needle
- upholstery thread
- scissors
- safety razor or electric trimmer
- 2 towels
- wrist braces (optional)
