Journeys & Pathways in Paint – An Exploration of Methods and Materials – Session 1

  • Dates: Thursday, 5:00-7:00pm, 10 Weeks
  • Tuition: $100
  • Instructor: Susanna White

Structurally organized as an assisted open studio combined with some structured activities, students are guided to work at their own pace to find and develop their own voice with the support of their fellow students and teacher. Over the ten weeks of the course students will be encouraged to engage in experimentation of materials and methods to develop their own studio practice to learn formal artistic techniques and the expressive possibilities of the mediums.

Open to all levels and particularly supporting students who either haven’t painted on their own before or who hope to overcome artistic blocks. Students can work in their 2-D medium of choice, but will be encouraged to try new ones, too. Susanna specializes in oils and alkyds, but is well versed in a variety of media from ink and charcoal, watercolor, pastel, acrylics, oils or a mixture of them all.

*Please note there is a session 2 of Journeys & Pathways in Paint – An Exploration of Methods and Materials following session 1, Thursdays at 7:15-9:15pm. Session 1 is a stand alone course like session 2; however, these two classes are designed to be back to back so that those students interested in having an extended 4 hour session (pending the ability to register for both sessions) may do so.
