Intended for both beginners and more advanced students, this class will explore the rich texture and romantic look of Gothic Blackletter calligraphy. It will focus primarily on learning a classic medieval style known as Textura Quadrata but, for those who are interested, we will also introduce a modernized medieval script known as Italicized Gothic. Along the way we will get to know some attractive adjuncts such as Lombardic Versal letters and penwork ornamentation.
